MTUTD OFFICIAL CLUB NEWS: SCG Muangthong United bolster their roster for the duration of the season with two key signings, announced today at the SCG Stadium.
Daisuke Sato is a 24 year old left back of Japanese-Philippine heritage. He's a current player for the Philippine national team, and has experience playing in Romania and briefly in The Netherlands. He joins SCG Muangthong United from Sepsi Sfântu Gheorghe where he was a regular starter.
Sato is expected to fill a similar role with the Kirin, strengthening the wing back role on the left side that the club has not been able to successfully after the departure of Tristan Do and the loan of Theerathon Bunmathan to Yokohama in the J.League.
Said club director of football Mr. Ronnarit Suewaja, "We've been following Sato for over a year now and it's been a long process to bring him to SCG Muangthong United. We're very pleased he's finally here to fill an important role in the team."
Vanderley Dias Marinho, simply known as 'Derley', is a 31 year old Brazilian forward joining SCG Muangthong United from Aves in Portugal's Primeira Liga. The 1.83 meter tall forward is expected to add scoring punch to the Kirin, known for his ability to keep the ball and win aerial battles.
Derley is known to Kirin coach Alexandra Gama, having played under him at Brazilian club Madureira in 2013. Derley since went on to play for Portuguese giants Benfica before being loaned out to Aves.
Said Gama about Derely, "He's a versatile player. We'll use him in as a centre forward, but he'll roam to the wings and alternate sides. He's going to create a lot of headaches for our opponents."
Coach Gama will now have a little less than a week to prepare the club for this Sunday's away match in Prachuap as the second leg of the 2019 season gets underway.
