SCG Muangthong announced the appointment of Radovan Curcic as head coach.
Curcic has managed at the highest levels, most recently with the Serbian national team, where he was initially caretaker coach for 3 seasons before taking on the role officially. He's worked with some of the games top players, including for instance former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic.
Said Curcic, aged 46, "I have a lot to be thankful for," regarding his selection to lead SCG Muangthong United.
Although Ćurčić had coaching offers from many clubs, it was SCG Muangthong United he wished to join. The club’s reputation is strong. It’s a club well known in Serbia, and well respected. And of course it is his plan to follow in the footsteps of fellow Serbian Slaviša Jokanović, currently with Fulham F.C. MTUTD was one of his first ever clubs outside of Serbia, and now this is true for Ćurčić.
Also, said Ćurčić, “I can help this club to grow, and I can grow with them.” He mentions something he greatly admires about Muangthong, the Academy that produces top players for club and country, such as Sarach Yooyen.
Ćurčić first goal is to “stabilize the team.” He began coaching immediately upon joining the club, and the match in Buriram on May 4th, will be his first official game.
“I don’t know yet the formation and style I will use. I’ve watched the team many times, and I was there at the Ratchaburi match to observe live. I prefer an attacking style and the 4-4-2, but it depends on what players are available and their characteristics.”
To the Muangthong fans, Ćurčić says, “I promise to do my best, and I am very appreciate of the fans. As a player, I know how important that is, and I am joining a club with tremendous supporters.”
