SCG Muangthong United roll over Navy F.C. in a resounding 4-0 win in Thai League One matchday 9 action at the SCG Stadium.
With Charyl Chappuis sitting out his second match ban, interim Coach Santi Chaiyapruak elected to give the youngster Sorawit Panthong his first ever start, playing as striker. As well, Ratchapol had his second consecutive start in the midfield, along with Suporn. Otherwise the line up consisted to the regular starters, with Heberty and Tossawat finishing off the midefield, Tristan Do, Peerapat, Nukoolkrit, and Naoaki Aoyama as the back four, and Prasit was once again between the pipes.
The Kirin were in control from the kickoff, pressing on the Navy defenders and controlling the midfield play. Several wide crosses to Tristan Do bearing down the right wing looked threatening. A the 12th minute Heberty slid a pass out to the right and Tristan Do ran onto the ball, hammering it home for the opening goal.
The excitement continued shortly after when Thossawat's free kick from just outside the box was off the post.
Ratchapol continued to show the good form that has earned him repeat starting selections, turning over the ball and forcing costly defensive errors. His efforts paid of at the 36th minute with the second goal of the match. A corner ball was mishandled by the keeper, spilling to the far post where Ratchapol was ready to strike in the high angle shot.
Literally two minutes later Heberty made it 3-0 for the Kirin, taking the pass at the edge of the box towards the penalty spot and slotting home the low drive. It was Heberty's fourth goal in as many games.
With the lead firmly established SCG Muangthong United were determined to earn the clean sheet as the second half progressed. The game resorted to essentially a game of keep-away, as the Kirin were able to move the ball between the midfield and back line with relative ease.
Navy FC were to threaten on a couple of occasions, however the Kirin keeper, Prasit Pradunchok was able to easily reign in the ball.
Navy FC were to draw a yellow card, and several late tackles and fouls slowed the pace of the game for a spell. A tackle on central defender Nukoolkrit Krutai resulted in the stretcher being called on to the pitch. It looks as if he's not available for the next match.
The fourth goal came towards the end of the game, when another foul at the edge of the box set up another key free kick opportunity. Heberty Fernandes stepped forward, and his attempt was past the wall and curling in past the diving keeper.
With the victory SCG Muangthong United secure 3rd place in the table. The Kirin are in action again very soon, with Suphanburi FC set to visit the SCG Stadium Wednesday April 11th. Tickets available now through ticketme.co.
