SCG Muangthong United rounded out their 2017 Thai League One season with a 2-0 home victory over Bangkok Glass F.C.
With the Kirin secure in second place and a berth in the 2018 AFC Champions League Playoffs, SCG Muangthong United did not need a victory. Yet in honor of the ever faithful fans a winning end to the season was definitely in store.
The first goal came early on when Leandro Alessandro, the club's leader goal scoring machine, slotted home from close range. SCG Muangthong United were to maintain control of the match throughout, although Head Coach Totchtawan Sripan rested key players. Next Wednesday the Kirin will play the League Cup Championship match against Chiang Rai United.
At the 60th minute, Theerathon Bunmathan, and then a bit later, Teerasil Dangda, subbed in for a bit of pitch time. They were followed shortly after by Sarach Yooyen. With the added firepower it wasn't long before the third goal materialized. Theerathon showed why he's one of the best attacking midfielder/fullback in the league, keeping the ball at his feet into the box, then sliding the pass to Teerasil. The team captain then strategically placed a low careful shot off the post for the second goal.
With the end of the 2017 Thai League, the Kirin will now focus on Wednesdays big showdown. Tickets are still available for the match, to be played at neutral ground at the Supachalasai Stadium.
