SCG Muangthong United thrilled their fans with a resounding 3-1 victory at home over Buriram United in FA Cup round of 16 action.
The win was also the third time this season The Kirin have defeated Buriram United, clearly establishing the club's dominance over the former champions.
Goals came from Adisak Kraison, Teerasil Dangda, and Cleiton Silva. Each goal was well earned. Adisak took Tristan Do's feed, moved to elude the defender, and slotted home a well placed shot form close range.
Teerasil Dangda's goal was a thing of beauty. First he took the pass from Chanathip, who jumped on a defensive error. Teerasil then faked a move inside to open up some space, and then threaded the needle with a lovely shot that curled in from outside the 18 yard box.
Cleiton Silva's goal was also lovely to watch. Silva came at the goal from the left hand side, and some quick footwork fooled the defenders allowing him to hit home the shot, taken from an acute angle as he charged at the goal line.
SCG Muanghtong's Keeper, Kawin Thamsatchanan will likely get the man-of-the-match award. He denied Buriram United at least three goals from close in shots that he was able to steer wide. His right-footed stop on Diogo Luis Santo low drive was remarkable, and even Santo applauded afterwards.
SCG Muangthong United have a few days to prepare for their next match, a TTL fixture with 6th place Chiang Rai United, Sunday August 7th, 2016, 8PM.
