ALL OUT ATTACK: MTUTD dominate Chonburi

SCG Muangthong United came away from Chonburi F.C. with three points, after a dominant 3-0 victory. Goals came from Adisak Krison (2), and Michael N'Dri.

Head Coach Totchtawan Sripan had concerns going into this match knowing three key players were not available. Cleiton Silva and Teerathon were both suspended after receiving their fourth yellow cards. As well, center back Mario Abrante's injury is not yet to the point he can return to the line up. Instead of Cleiton Silva, Michael N'Dri was given the start, and new signing Xisco Jimenez was on the game sheet as a possible substitution.

By 17 minutes the Kirin were up 2-0 with goals from Adisak and N'Dri, both the result of patience and team work. Chonburi meanwhile looked often to find their Brazilian striker Rodrigo Virgilio with a cross or long ball forward, and Naoaki Aoyama and the back line had to be solid in defending. N'Dri worked hard, often coming back into the midfield or further when needed.

N'Dri almost netted a second at the 34th minute when Tristan Do's little chip back towards the top of the box left N'Dri with the ball in almost the the exact same spot from where he scored earlier. The work rate of N'Dri, but also many of the Kirin, was high, and having had a week between games may have benefited the squad.

Chonburi almost had one at 40 minutes but Kawin blocked the shot, and then Aoyama was there to also block the dangerous rebound attempt. Just a few moments later Adisak scored his second of the match. The play had become more aggressive, with first Chanathip and then Narul being on the wrong end of tackles, leading to a break down the right side and the ball in to Adisak and the goal.

The second half saw the pace upped as Chonburi were determined for a come back. Both Leandro and Prince Amponsah were brought on for Chonburi, while at about the 60th minute Adisak came off Wattana, a defensive switch. SCG Muangthong defended stalwartly, and fine blocks, tackles, and clearances denied the Chonburi attack, including a save by Kawin on a close in driving shot.

Yet SCG Muangthong United counter attack resulted in several good chances, and both Teerasil and N'Dri missing what looked to be sure goals.

SCG Muangthong United will play again Wednesday August 3rd, an FA Cup match, against Buriram United, and the next TTL match will be Sunday August 7th, when Chiang Rai United visit the SCG Stadium.
