SCG Muangthong United’s defender Suphan Thongsong has been added to the roster of Thailand’s national football team ahead of the King’s Cup competition. This will bring to 10 the number of players called to the national squad.
The King’s Cup is an international invitational tournament created by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT). The King’s Cup is played every year. This year is the 44th edition of the cup, and will be played June 3-4-5 at the Rajamangala Stadium.
This time around the national teams from United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, and Syria will compete with Thailand. The tournament is a round-robin style.
The King’s Cup is a chance for Thailand’s national team to play together and develop experience ahead of the next round of matches in the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifications. Team Thailand is scheduled to play in Saudi Arabia on September 1st, and will host Japan on September 6th. They’ll also be playing UAE in October, so the King’s Cup will be a good opportunity for both teams to learn about each other.
