SCG Muangthong United showed the fighting form that has earned them second place with a confident 4-0 win at Ratchaburi.
Coach Dragan Talajic was once again without key players as Datsakorn Thonglao remained injured, and Thitiphan was serving a one match ban due to yellow cards. Fortunately Artit Daosawong has returned from the knee injury that sidelined him almost the entire season. Talajic made the decision to move Artit into the centre back position, allowing Kim Dong Jin to move into the midfield, a position he has played before with success. Piyaphon also received just his second start of the season.
With strong performance from Kawin, making several amazing stops, the MTUTD back line looked sharper and held the clean sheet. Along with the great saves, the MTUTD defenders twice cleared the ball off the goal line.
Muangthong’s goals came from Cleiton Silva with 2, Teerasil Dangda, and Mario Gjurovski who scored the opening goal at the 39th minute.
Muangthong United have very little time to rest, however, as Wednesday December 2nd is the semifinal match of the Chang FA Cup competition. No doubt the early substitution of Teerasil was to allow some rest before this upcoming big match.
