At the end of Full Time Thailand has defeated Chinese Taiepei 4 -2 in FIFA 2018 World Cup Qualifications. The win helps secure Thailand as winners of Group F and the team will advance to Round Three, though the remaining game against Iraq still has to be played.
The match began with a shock to the packed crowd at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok when Chinese Taipei took a quick early lead with a goal at only the 3 minute point. However Thailand were eventually able to equalise when Teerasil Dangda hit the first of Thailand’s 4 goals just before half time.
The second half began strong for Thailand and it was their turn for a quick goal, with Pokklaw A-Nan scoring at the 52nd minute, with the assist from Teerasil. Taipei were determined to not let the game get away from them, however, and they evened the score at the 65th minute. The pressure of Thailand’s attack soon was too much however, and quick goals at the 72nd and 74th minute sealed the game.
Thailand has 13 points and are the likely winners of Group F, though they have one match to play with Iraq, the second place team. Iraq only has 5 points, and with 3 matches remaining will find it difficult to catch Thailand. The other teams in group F are Vietnam with 4 points, and Chinese Taipei, with 0 points.
There will be 12 teams advancing to round 3, which will begin in August 2016.
