SCG Muangthong United came from behind to defeat Bangkok United 5-3 at the Thai-Japanese Stadium amidst heavy rain and wind.
Muangthong scored the initial goal at the 17th minute on a penalty shot by Cleiton Silva after Mario Gjurovski was brought down in the box by the keeper. However the lead did not last more than 5 minutes before Bangkok United equalised on a corner kick that beat Kawin and the MTUTD defense at the far post.
Bangkok United then went ahead with a second goal just before half time when a free kick was saved by Kawin, but the rebound came out to Bangkok United attackers following the ball in.
MTUTD began the second half a goal down but equalised quickly when Mario Gjurovski headed in a cross from Cleiton Silva. Shortly after this goal heavy rain began, adding a whole new level of difficulty to the match. Bangkok United went ahead 3-2 at the 71st minute with a long range short that eluded Kawin.
MTUTD were to respond, however, with 3 goals before the end of the match. Cleiton scored his second of the match with a move past the keeper to tuck the ball in. Teerasil then put MTUTD into a 4-3 lead with an easy header after a perfect cross from Mario Gjurovski. The final goal came in the last few minutes when substitute Chananan found the back of the net.
MTUTD’s next match is in just a few days as they play Port FC at the PAT Stadium, a game rescheduled from earlier in the season. This make up game means MTUTD have the chance to equalise with Buriram on points at the top of the table.
