The Thai F.A. has handed down penalties to Singhtarua F.C. and Muangthong United following last Saturday's post-match altercations between fans.
In the decision both clubs will be deducted 9 points and will have to pay a 300,000 baht fine. Also, away-team fans will not be permitted in the remaining 3 games of the season.
Muangthong United have announced immediately they will appeal this decision. The evidence to date shows the Singhtarua fans instigated the violence, and further the altercations took place mainly outside the SCG Stadium grounds. Muangthong United had taken special precautions by bringing in additional police and military to prevent violence.
To issue this level of fine at this point in the season is unprecedented by the Thai Football Association. Muangthong management would like to see Thai professional football's image enhanced, however disagree with the manner in which this has been decided.
