#MTUTD MATCH REPORT VS. BURIRAM, AUG. 20, 2014 United dominated the match yet came out of the game losing another 3 points to Buriram, who now are 7 points ahead, with 7 games left in the season.
United started the game missing key players Mario Gjurovksi and Jay Bothroyd, and Erik Paaratalu was also listed as a questionable for the match. Despite the lack of firepower, United held the ball and applied pressure. Buriram's only goal came after a questionable tackle on the last man n back allowed what would be a 4-1 counter-attack. Yet just before half time an equally questionable penalty awarded to Muangthong was wasted as the shot was saved by the Buriram keeper. In the second half the long list of yellow cards against Buriram led to the ejection of Theerathon, much to the delight of the United faithful. United were then able to apply tremendous pressure against Buriram. Despite this the equalizing goal eluded Muanghtong's attack, as headers by Kim dong Jin, or strikes by Wuttichai were either saved or narrowly missed the target. United will travel to Chonburi on Saturday looking to jump into second and keep the pressure upon Buriram. With 7 games remaining the title is still in reach, however it requires Buriram to slip up and allow United back into the race.
