MARIO DJUROVSKI is Muangthong United's Man of the Match after his goal created the 1-0 victory over Chonburi F.C. With this win, MTUTD move into top spot of the Thai Premier League with BEC TERO drawing 1-1 with Police United. Muangthong were missing striker Jay Bothroyd (suspended due to yellow cards) however was still the stronger team for most of the game, with greater control and more attempts on goal. Despite this the Chonburi defense was resolute and had allowed only one opportunity during the first 30 minutes of play. Teerasil's attempt, however, was just wide of the net. MTUTD's defense were equally strong. The presence of DAGNA SIAKA in the centre back position intimidated the attackers, as well as the usual strong performance from Kim Dong Jin who made several key blocks and clearances. In the 38th minute MTUTD broke through. Teerasil directed a pass towards Mario just inside the box. Mario showed patience by holding the ball and side-stepping defenders, giving him a good angle on net. His shot tucked just inside the right-hand post for the only goal of the game. The second half continued with the same pattern of play. Chonburi never really had any serious scoring moments, only once coming close, however Muangthong keeper KAWIN THAMSATCHANAN quickly smothered the header before it was able to cross the line. Then in the 68th minute Teerasil was fouled in the box, setting up a penalty shot. For the second consecutive time, however, Mario's strike was saved by the keeper. Coach Pon subbed in MILAN BUBALO and SARACH YUYEN for Teerasil and Mario with about 10 minutes remaining. MTUTD were able to keep the ball in Chonburi's half for most of the time, and the final blew whistle after 4 minutes of extra time.
