Teerasil Danga, SCG Muangthong United's 25 year old striker, is setting goal scoring records with the club and the Thai Premier League. After the 1 - 4 win over PTT Rayong last week, he has set a new club record of 97 goals.
Teerasil has signed a one year loan deal with Almeria, and will begin working with the Spanish team in July of this year. Almeria has the option to purchase the player after his season in La Liga. He had also been a target for Manchester United before the Spanish side were able to sign him.
Previously, in 2007 - 2009, Teerasil worked with Manchester City, and returned to Muangthong United in 2009 and has been the team's main striker ever since. He has helped Muangthong to win the Thai Premier League title in 2009, 2010, and 2012. Teerasil is also a key player on Thailand's national team.
"In the past, I did not count all my goals, but I know now and I feel happy about this. My goals come thanks to my teammates who create opportunities. My goal is to help the team win many points before I fly to Spain to play with Almeria."
Teerasil begn his professionl career in 2005 (aged 17) with the Royal Thai Air Force youth squad, and in the same season made several appearances for the main squad. In 2007 he joined with Muangthong United, then in the second division. Muangthong United were to win the league that season and be promoted to the Thai Premier League. Teerasil was to score seven goals in six matches.
