SCG Muangthong United ended the first half of the season top of the table with an 8-3 pounding of Osotspa Samut Prakan F.C.
Man-of-the-Match was Cleiton Silva for notching four goals, cementing his place as the league's top goal scorer, with 19. Adisak scored on a penalty, Teerasil Dangda had two, and Peerapat scored his first goal for the Kirin.
The score line might have been higher had it not been for the heavy rain that fell in the hour before kick off. The water logged field was challenging for both teams, as one could never be sure if a pass would roll through to its target, or hit a soggy patch and come to a sudden stop. This hampered SCG Maungthong United's style, which is based on possession and methodical movement of the ball amongst players.
The pitch also made life difficult for the keepers. Osotspa's keeper Pathomtat Sudpraserk was caught too far out when the long ball forward ran on more than expected, allowing Silva an easy empty net goal. Muangthong Keeper Kawin Tamsatchanan likewise had difficulty holding onto the ball at key moments, giving up goals.
SCG Muanghtong United are in the midst of a busy match schedule, and will need to maintain focus and fitness as the second leg of the 206 season gets underway. The Kirin will play at the SCG Stadium this Saturday June 25th, when they welcome Nakhon Ratchasima F.C. Ticket details can be found at mtutd.info.
