The match between two the top teams in the league was intense from the first kick of the game. In the first half Muangthong were the better team, putting pressure on the Suphanburi defense often, and several key shots were just wide.

The second half, however, was all Suphanburi for the first 10 minutes, and this cost MTUTD. The half started with the hosts on the attack and applying the pressure. The Muangthong defense looked shaky, and a yellow card was handed out to Datsakorn on a hard tackle. A few moments later Suphanburi came close with a cross to an open header, but the ball was wide. A few moments later a free kick in to the Muangthong United box comes out to an attacker, and the strike by Suphanburi is off the cross bar and in.

After the first goal MTUD applied the pressure, but a quick counter attack led to Suphanburi's second goal at the 58th minute.

SCG Muangthong fought back for the next the remainder of the half, however, with better pressure on the Suphanburi net, forcing the keeper into several saves. Then, at the 71st minutes Mario Gjurovski heads one home.

A few moments later Sarach Yuyen was upended in the box as he pushed for the net, a tackle which had head coach Dragan Talajic looking in the referee's direction with his hands raised.

At the 82nd minute Coach Dragan Talajic subbed in Wuttichai for Kim Dong Jin in the defense. The hope for extra power on the attack, however, didn't materialize into the equalizer he'd probably hoped for.

Muangthong were forced to defend some more, though soon the attack turned to their favour. A cross from Piyaphon found Teerasil, however his header was in the turf and then the keeper had it.

The Suphanburi defense were under attack for the last 10 minutes of the match. Several chances were available, including a goal-crease scramble and some agressive shirt pulling by the Suphanburi defense to clear the ball. Once again, Coach Talajic had his hands raised. In the last minute Suphanburi drew their first yellow card with a desperate tackle to hold back the attack.

Coach Dragan Talajic was clearly disappointed in the result, but encouraged as well. "We were a bit unluckly. Suphanburi played very well, and their first goal could be the goal of the week. I am disappointed, but we have a lot of quality up front. This is my job, to get them to score lots of goals. It wont be the same in our house, when Suphanburi has to play in front of 20,000 MTUTD fans."
